The
four-year Arts Program at Aaron School; a private K-12 special needs school, is
an exciting program worth exploring.
This
program enriches the students with artistic skills as well as build upon
certain essential life skills such as collaborating with fellow students and
critical thinking.
Showcase
- A wonderful exhibition of artistic expression
Showcase is the annual arts exhibition held at Aaron school that exhibits one piece of art work from each student of the Arts program throughout the school.
During the celebration of Showcase, the school bursts to its seams with the zeal of creativity and the colorful energy showcasing of the art created by the students at the high school.
Each students gets to have their artwork displayed somewhere in the school throughout the year.
The
core focus areas of the Arts program
The
Arts program not only helps build art skills and techniques but it also hones
certain critical life skills of the participants, including:
Collaboration
With
interesting activities such as switching the paintings of one student with the
other, students learn how to relate to others and collaborate in a creative
process.
To
be successful and confident in life, it is essential to learn how to work as a
team.
As
this school caters to students with special needs and challenges that may
include social challenges, this program goes a long way in further developing
the social skills of the child and provides them with tools that help them in
their everyday lives, outside of the school as well.
Community
As
students of all ages work together in the Arts class, this program offers an
extensive scope for rousing feelings of amicability and companionship among the
participants.
The
special needs school offers creative opportunities to its students with the
utilization of 'art' as a way to foster empathy and social skills.
Critical
thinking and problem-solving
With
assignments that require students to figure a way out and solve problems, this
program works well to enhance the problem-solving and critical thinking
capabilities of the child.
As
any students, those with special needs also commit mistakes, and the program
offers an understanding leeway for mistakes and errors so as to help the child
feel a sense of accomplishment. It's a thrilling experience!
